Failing at sleep (and some updates)

Since my last update about how much Christmas weight I put on, I have lost most of it.

That said, it was not all good news. My last weigh-in was 0.2 lbs lower than two weeks prior. I was initially despondent because that’s just a rounding error of value. However, I figure that any downward trend is a good trend and I’m taking the win.

Part of this could be that I tried fighting my sleep cycle. People who know me know that I could be awake at any hour of the day or night. This is because my body has a 25 to 26 hour cycle. That and I handle staying awake much longer than is good very easy.

Recently, I have been in a situation where social commitments and times my body wanted sleep were at odds. So more than once I stayed awake. In one instance I was up for 30 or more hours.

Of course, I then slept for 12 to 13 hours. When that happens, I usually end up waking in great pain.

Depending on if I was working with or against my body’s non-Earth day/night cycle I have had lately:

  • The best of good days
  • The roughest of bad days
  • Some seriously unproductive okay days.

Right now, for example, it is a little after two in the morning and I am sliding from pretty-good well into okay land and in sight of not-good-at-all (bad).

It took all that to remind me to write an update.

When will I learn?
