Recovering from a nasty one

I had a massive flare-up and migraine attack yesterday. It was so bad that I did not even feel like updating my blog to complain about it. I shall have to file an update to keep my charts somewhat truthful. After all, there’s no point tracking stuff if I don’t record good data.

I was upset because it meant missing my writers’ group. The exact same thing happened last week too. Same symptoms. More annoying than an army of salespeople knocking at the door at five in the afternoon just as you are heading out somewhere.

When it started to pass, I was in a bit of a low-energy funk. I messed about with some low-importance code and watched a lot of YouTube. I played some simple games.

What snapped me out of it was this post on Cynni’s Blog. It sounds like they have a lot on their plate. It reminded me that I’m not the only one having a shite day. This BS lands on others, and they too are just trying to keep their head above water. Somehow, that made it all much easier.

Right now it is 6 am. Early and past “bedtime”. While I’m mindful of how tired I will be come this evening, I don’t want to sleep the day away and risk setting it all off again. I slept most of yesterday, which didn’t help and then spent the evening feeling rough. I will probably be fine (unless I get too tired and bring on another one). It’s a balancing act some days.

I could have lived without the nausea and a hyper-awareness of where the nearest bucket was. I was glad when that was over, even though I felt drained. I still feel drained, but at a level I can cope with. If my appetite comes back, I might cook some rice later.

The moral of this story is: Please talk about the crap you are fighting through. It is never just whining. Others will see it and, like me, feel seen. It helps.

(Also, writing itself helps anyway, I find.)

May tomorrow be kinder to us all.
